I think this is my favorite blog post ever by anyone anywhere. The "never feel clueless and always know better than everyone else" reminds me of so-called social media experts who would lay down on railroad tracks before admitting that Twitter doesn't work for all business models. Such people are not only dangerous to others, they're dangerous to themselves.

Honestly, Pete, it is BS like this that sours me on Winograd. Bowen has been an excellent Secretary of State for California and has been given the Profile in Courage Award by the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. Long before she ran for any office she participated in the Neighborhood Watch and Heal the Bay programs, which CERTAINLY helped the community. I have seen no evidence for her ever running for office as a Republican, but honestly, even if she was once a Republican (like Hillary Clinton), so what? I have known many people who started as Republicans then became disillusioned with them and switched. Arianna Huffington was a GINGRICH Republican until she saw the light.

Winograd is fine, and if you want to vote for her please do so. But to be so nasty (and misleading) about the other candidates is rather disgusting. If the Winograd faction wants to alienate Democracy for America with nasty attacks like you make, then to hell with her.

I have problems with people of a group who won't take responsibility for those who interpret/misinterpret their message in a violent way. When a Christian fanatic commits violence people like Leo and myself speak out...and I for one expect other Christians to speak out. The same goes for Muslims who believe that they are encouraged to commit violence by Islam. If you don't speak out against such Muslims, then who will?

Leo probably comes from a very different background than you are suggesting. He has stood up to Christian mobs and gotten beaten up and arrested for it. He is fighting against religious extremism of all kinds and puts his life on the line to protect others from that kind of extremism. I think if you are genuine in your condemnation of violence (whoever commits it) then you should be on his side.

That said, your disagreement with what anyone writes here, within limits of politeness and legality, are more than welcome here. Thanks for posting.

This is up there with one of the worst articles i've ever read..what an arrogant, ignorant & offensive piece..brimming with racism & islamophobia..i wont go into crushing every point because i'd be here all day..but let's just say this..all people of faith have attatchment to that faith..if you are a jew & someone came in front of you & said Moses was a mofo i believe a part of you would get annoyed(actually that would offend muslims just as much as jews)..it's natural.
Now we as humans are responsible for our actions & so while the initial action is totally wrong & unnecessary...(& isn't some useful right to be protected..what the hell is the benefit from Quran burnings other than to piss muslims off..dont forget these are muslims that are being bombed & killed mercilessly by the same country where these killings happened.)
anyway so while that's wrong the reaction of killing is totally unacceptable, & every person who killed or injured UN staff should be given the corresponding punishment..even the ISLAMIC punishment..because as much as your ignorant racist self would like to believe it Islam doesn't say kill those who burn the Quran.

& what about the 1.6 BILLION muslims (or rather fanatical barbarians as you believe)..where is the BLOODY TRAIL OF MURDER & DESTRUCTION they left in their wake as they swept through the streets like crazy brainwashed lunatics..believing they are doing 'Allah's work' for 'bountiful rewards'...
