Your analysis is brilliant. The reason Polanski's victim, Lohan, and neverending images of pubescent girls in "ho shoes" find no taboo resonance with the creative elite is because they represent female "wannabes" and "nevergonnabes" that the elite look down on, yet depend upon for their monetary approval. They are the eternal groupies that cannot become even arm candy, though haute couture promises that if their hooker clothes and shoes are sufficiently "haute," it may be possible.
The selection of Lohan is unfortunate. Lohan has made herself synonymous with the uneducated, spoiled and self-destructive nouveau riche. The Arch/Lohan collaboration seems a desperate to attempt create buzz from irrelevance. I am old enough to be Lindsay's mother. I have daughters 21 and 18. If Estrella Arch ever expects to sell anything to my daughters, future film maker and engineer, respectively, or to their daughters, she better come with a more powerful representative than Lohan, because their "not us" is fast becoming our "not them."
